Arriving by Car

From Toronto or Pearson airport

Take the Gardiner Expressway / Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) westbound, Highway 401 to Highway 403, or 407 westbound to Burlington, where the highway splits to QEW southbound and Highway 403 westbound. Take Highway 403 to the Highway 8 West Main Street exit. At the traffic lights at Main Street, turn left, and travel one kilometer to the stoplight at University Avenue and Emerson Street. Turn right to the McMaster University Medical Centre. Visitor parking is beneath the building. HEI is on the second floor, HSC-2C.

From the Niagara Peninsula

Follow the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) northbound, over the Skyway Bridge. Take Highway 403 westbound towards Hamilton and exit at Highway 8 West Main Street exit. At the traffic lights at Main Street, turn left, and travel one kilometer to the stoplight at University Avenue and Emerson Street. Turn right to the McMaster University Medical Centre. Visitor parking is beneath the building. HEI is on the second floor, HSC-2C.

From Brantford and London

Travel eastbound on Highway 403 to the Aberdeen Street exit. Turn left at the first lights onto Longwood Road. Proceed to Main Street. At the traffic lights at Main Street, turn left, and travel one kilometer to the stoplight at University Avenue and Emerson Street. Turn right to the McMaster University Medical Centre. Visitor parking is beneath the building. HEI is on the second floor, HSC-2C.

From Kitchener/Waterloo

Take Highway 8 southbound to Dundas. Highway 8 becomes King Street, then becomes Cootes Drive as you proceed through town. Follow Cootes Drive to Main Street West. Turn left on main Street, and left again at the next stoplight, University Avenue and Emerson Street. Turn left to the McMaster University Medical Centre. Visitor parking is beneath the building. HEI is on the second floor, HSC-2C.

Arriving by public transit: GO bus/train and city bus information

GO Transit provides direct transit service to McMaster's GO Terminal on west campus, from Sunday to Friday, along two GO Transit corridors:

  • An express bus connection to/from the Burlington GO Station with convenient transfers with the Lakeshore GO train service.
  • GO bus service along the Highway 407 corridor includes service at three carpool lots in Burlington and Oakville, as well as bus stops in Mississauga, Brampton and York University.
  • Burlington Transit's route #1 bus travels along Plains Road and Fairview Street from the Appleby GO Station to downtown Hamilton, where you can transfer to a Mac-bound Hamilton Transit (HSR) bus.
